Gallery: RX-78-2 Gundam Fix Platinum 「Bandai x Ginza Tanaka」

The "Gundam Fix Platinum" 「純プラチナ製 機動戦士ガンダム」 was a joint creation of Bandai and Japanese jewelry maker Ginza Tanaka 「ギンザタナカ」 in 2007. This one-off figure, consisting of 89 parts, stands 125 mm tall, weighs 1,4 kg and is made from 1,400 g of pure platinum (Pt.1000). An 0.15 karat diamond is also used on the camera eye portion of the head. The entire process took two years from design to manufacture. The thought behind this collaboration was to create a masterpiece combining the rare, eternal pureness of "the king of precious metals" with the lasting worldview of Gundam.

This figure was first exhibited at Baselworld 2007, the world's largest watch & jewelry trade show, held in Basel (Switzerland), and was put up for display at different events in Japan afterwards.

No further plans were made to release this figure. With a retail value estimated at ¥30,000,000 ($250,000 USD), this figure is the most expensive Gundam figure ever created.
